FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 25, 2025
DENVER, CO – When Sophia Montessori Academy announced on November 8, 2024, that it would close at the end of the academic year, parents and community members rallied to secure its future and preserve its extraordinary mission. The Board of Directors would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to our devoted parents and supportive community for their overwhelming encouragement and passion for the success of this school. Through their prayers, generosity, and collaboration, Sophia Montessori has been blessed with the opportunity to continue to provide authentic Catholic Montessori education from preschool through elementary levels.
This summer, Sophia Montessori Academy will relocate to a shared campus with Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory, an independent Catholic classical high school, offering easy access to Denver, Englewood, Centennial, and Littleton. We are excited to collaborate with Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory, combining the richness of the Montessori approach for preschool and elementary with the excellence of the classical education model for high school. Together, we can create a profound and enduring faith-filled educational experience for generations to come.
We are delighted to announce that enrollment for Fall 2025 is now open! With our primary and elementary programs already 60% full, we encourage interested families to schedule a visit of our current classrooms today. While we anticipate a waitlist for the fall, our growth model includes plans to expand classrooms each year, with the goal of establishing a comprehensive elementary program across all levels. To schedule a visit, enroll, or learn more about our mission, visit our website: www.sophiamontessori.com.
Additionally, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jean Finegan as the Director of Development for Sophia Montessori Academy. Jean brings decades of experience in Catholic philanthropy and financial stewardship, both within the Archdiocese of Denver and on a national scale. As the grandmother of a current SMA student, Jean’s dedication is deeply personal. In her own words, “I am honored to be called to serve the mission and ministry of Sophia Montessori. This authentically Catholic Montessori school is a hidden gem. It is a beautiful model of forming the whole child with the gift of our faith integrated into each experience.” Jean’s leadership will play an essential role in supporting our day-to-day operational expenses along with the long-term sustainability of the school. If you are interested in supporting our mission, Jean can be reached at jean.finegan@sophiamontessori.com.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers as we embark on this exciting journey. Together, we are building a brighter future for Sophia Montessori Academy and the families we serve.
