Our History
Many people in our community were seeking an exceptional education for their children that would follow their unique development and prepare them for life, not just the next grade, within a deeply Catholic culture.

Pauline Meert and Irene Ortega met in 2011 and decided to start a school that would be authentically Montessori and deeply Catholic to meet the need of the community. In 2015, they met with Father Michael O'Loughlin, the pastor of Holy Protection at the time, and actively began working towards what would become Sophia Montessori Academy

In 2017, a building was found and renovations began. It took a lot of work and a lot of amazing people! Little by little, the building started to look more like a school. After 6 long months of delays in construction, SMA officially opened on February 12th, 2018

Since then, many children and their families have joined us, we have welcomed new staff members, and lots of beautiful work has happened. Now our waitlist continues to grow and we look to the future and expansion.
