Our Byzantine Catholic faith is a part of everyday school life and taught through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Our goals are to bring children into a deep relationship with Jesus Christ, foster a strong love of learning, offer excellent academics, and support parents in the raising of their children in the Christian faith.
Sophia Montessori Academy offers an authentic Montessori education to children. Using Dr. Maria Montessori's discoveries we are able to best meet children's needs.
Using the Classical curriculum, children are also taught logic, virtues, and receive an exceptional intellectual formation.
Our programs are organized by age groups to meet the planes of development as presented by Maria Montessori. In each plane of development children learn in a particular way and each place has a particular purpose or goal.
Our staff is highly qualified through Montessori training, Early Childhood Education standards, and unified in their commitment to the teachings of Christ.
Primary, for children ages 3-6, is focused on physical independence and acquiring a strong foundation in independence, concentration, social skills, and academics.
Before and After School Care
Opened from 7:30 am to 8:30 am and from 3 pm-5 pm, our highly qualified staff offer free play, relaxing activities, and quiet time for children before and after school.
Our religious education program (CGS) is founded upon the Montessori approach. Hands on materials, prayer, Bible study, geography and historical context of the Holy Land during the Life of Christ. Combines both Roman and Byzantine Catholic Feasts and traditions.
Our extra-curricular activities offered in the afternoons include art education, music and drama, sports and physical education, gardening and practical life skills, foreign languages, and more.
These classes are ideal for children staying late, for children from other schools, and for homeschooling families.
They are offered through 8 week sessions.
